Teacher With Rabbit Phobia Sues 14-Year-Old For Drawing Rabbit
I’m not gonna lie to you, rabbits can be pretty scary. Frank from Donnie Darko, the killer rabbit from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, that rabbit from Harvey, even Rabbit from that that horrifying live-action adaptation of Winnie the Pooh, all terrible incarnations of a typically cute and furry mammal. So I can’t say I was entirely surprised when I saw this article on Digg about a teacher in Germany with a severe fear of rabbits who is suing a student over drawing a picture of one.
“‘We did it for fun and out of curiosity’, one of the girls told a court, adding, ‘We wanted to see if she would really freak out.” Obviously, the fact that the students seem pretty cavalier about admitting that they did it on purpose, but you can’t really blame kids for being kids. The teacher is looking to be compensated “…for her terror and her loss of earnings.” I’m not questioning the legitimacy of this lady’s fear. Tons of people have irrational fears, but as a teacher why would you tell your students about this fear? Like, how do you tell a group of 14 year olds that you’re scared of rabbits and not expect them to do anything?
