Hollywood Video Closing All Stores

Hollywood Video, the number 2 movie-rental chain in the United States behind Blockbuster, is closing all of its stores, according to this article from MSNBC.  People have been sounding the death knell of video rental stores for years, so this shouldn’t come as a shock.  Netflix, Hulu, Redbox, and all the rest are far easier and more convenient than paying rental and late fees.  Still, I feel a tinge of sadness over this news.  As a kid, going to the movie store down the street was like a mini-field trip.  My family would spend hours in there, arguing over what to rent and looking at the covers of practically every movie in the place.  Those days are gone forever now.  I haven’t rented a movie in years, but I like knowing that the possibility exists.  Hopefully, Blockbuster can keep it together for a little longer.
