Debt Collectors Forced To Pay 1.5 Million To Guy After Leaving Racist Voicemails

This article from Gawker (via Digg) reports that a Texas debt collecting company left a number of racist voicemails for one of their black customers.  I’m not going to put down the actual quote, but the company was basically imploring the man to get to work in the cotton fields.  It also had some pretty choice language.  The thought process (or lack thereof) that goes into leaving a voicemail like that is baffling.  Anyway, the guy sued the company, and is being rewarded a whopping 1.5 million dollars in punitive damages.  Message: racism is bad.
